Job Description
The Project Engineer II is responsible for planning, implementing, and delivering technology solutions that meet client requirements while ensuring high-quality project execution. This role independently manages infrastructure and Microsoft security-focused projects, collaborates with internal teams and clients, and produces accurate project documentation to support long-term operational success.
The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in Microsoft cloud, endpoint management, and security technologies, with hands-on experience implementing solutions that improve client security posture, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role requires a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills, strong customer service abilities, and experience working in a consulting or managed services environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of client technology projects while meeting project scope, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
- Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Microsoft cloud, security, endpoint management, and infrastructure technologies, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Purview.
- Implement and configure Microsoft security and compliance solutions, including endpoint protection, threat detection, security monitoring, identity security, and data governance solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients throughout project planning, implementation, troubleshooting, and handoff.
- Assist with security-focused technology initiatives, including Microsoft security tool deployments, configuration changes, policy implementation, and security improvements.
- Produce accurate implementation notes, as-built documentation, knowledge base articles, and client-facing technical documentation.
- Identify process improvements and recommend updates to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base documentation.
- Proactively identify technical risks, security gaps, and implementation issues while recommending appropriate solutions.
- Provide technical guidance during project execution and share knowledge with peers.
- Ensure completed solutions meet client expectations and support long-term operational stability and security.
Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience implementing and supporting IT infrastructure and Microsoft technology projects.
- Experience working with distributed or remote teams.
- Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft cloud, security, endpoint, and infrastructure technologies.
- Experience implementing Microsoft security solutions such as Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Purview, or Microsoft Intune.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced consulting or project-based environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
Required Technical Skills:
Candidates should demonstrate hands-on implementation experience in at least two (2) of the following technical areas, including Microsoft Security & Compliance technologies:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
- Experience using PSA platforms such as ConnectWise.
- Experience using RMM platforms such as ConnectWise Automate or Kaseya.
- Experience supporting multiple client environments.
- Experience delivering Microsoft security and compliance projects for clients.
Certifications:
Preferred certifications include:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).
- Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102).
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102).
- Microsoft Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200).
- Microsoft Information Protection Administrator Associate (SC-400).
- Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100).
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE 4) or equivalent.
- SonicWall Certified Secure Administrator (CSSA) or equivalent.
- VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA).
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
- Microsoft Intune or Endpoint Management certifications.
Job KPI’s:
- Billable Utilization: The percentage of time spent on billable client project work while maintaining accurate time entries.
- Project Delivery: Successful completion of assigned projects within agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards.
- Documentation Quality: Accuracy and completeness of implementation notes, as-built documentation, and knowledge base updates for completed projects.
- Client Satisfaction (CSAT): Feedback provided by clients through post-project or service satisfaction surveys.
- Timesheet Compliance: Timely and accurate submission of timesheets in accordance with company standards.

Pay rates start at $18.28/hour and vary by experience and location.
